# Qu'est-ce que la balise Meta Keywords ?

Cette balise était, auparavant, nécessaire pour le référencement. Aujourd’hui, cet élément méta est tenu à l’écart dans le calcul des facteurs de classement de Google car il est facilement manipulable.

Le fait que des mots-clés stockés dans les métadonnées n’aient pas ou peu d’impact positif pour le classement dans les recherches sur Internet ne veut pas dire qu’une mauvaise utilisation de ces balises méta ne soit pas pénalisante. Le choix d’un mot-clé implique une certaine sensibilité. Il convient d’éviter le « bourrage » (de l’anglais Keyword stuffing) mais aussi les balises méta mots-clés qui ne sont pas en lien avec les contenus des pages Web correspondantes.
